Pelion: the abundant Greek countryside
Homeland of the legendary Chiron the Centaur, (part man part horse) the wise teacher of Achilles, Mount Pelion is also home to forty small mountain and coastal villages.
It has lush oak and chestnut forests, olive groves and over 1.000 different herbs, including chamomile, basil, rosemary, mint, nettle and oregano.
Such herbs are abundant throughout the Greek countryside, but the ones that grow here are far superior in aroma and taste. Pelion is also known for premium quality fruits and vegetables as well as garden plants like gardenias and hydrangeas.
